Salone del Mobile 2024 has introduced an innovative approach in the design of its exhibition spaces, using neuroscience to improve the visitor experience. This scientific discipline studies the nervous system and the brain to understand how we perceive, think, and react to stimuli. The application of neuroscience to the design of the Salone’s spaces has allowed the creation of paths and settings that better meet the emotional and behavioral needs of visitors.
The goal was to make the visit more intuitive, enjoyable, and less tiring, optimizing the flow of movement and improving interaction with exhibitors. This approach, based on listening and analyzing behaviors, has led to a more human and engaging design that puts people and their experiences at the center.
Revolutionized Layout: The redistribution of the pavilions makes the visit more efficient. To visit all the stands, it will be necessary to walk 640 meters instead of the previous 1.2 kilometers.
Digital Services: Matchmaking services and appointment booking optimize participants’ time. Online ticketing and wayfinding simplify the visitor experience.
Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 is an opportunity for the entire sector to relaunch, a place where design evolves and reinvents itself. This edition promises to be an exciting journey into the world of furniture and interior design.
Salone del Mobile Attraction: A Thinking Room.
The installation “Interiors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room” is one of the most anticipated attractions at the Salone del Mobile 2024. Here are some specific details:
Setting: The installation is characterized by a dreamlike and immersive atmosphere, with two identical and mirrored rooms, conceived as symbolic doors to immerse oneself in the event.
Design: The rooms are enveloped in a sort of blue velvet curtain, reminiscent of Lynch’s famous film, “Blue Velvet”. At the center of each room is a large wooden armchair, above which brass tubes are positioned.
Experience: The “Thinking Room” has been described as a place where every impulse, spasm, and hope finds a moment of reflection, perhaps even silence, because in Lynch’s work, nothing is certain and definitive.
Collaborations: The project saw the collaboration of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano for the scenic realization and Lombardini22 for the design of the path leading to the installation.
These combined elements create a unique experience that reflects the deep relationship between the interiority of those who furnish a space and their external projection of the self.
The “Thinking Room” invites visitors to reflect on interiority through design.
